Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Emily Cartwright ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your information when you visit emilycartwright.com, download the free Meaningful Moments Starter Kit, or otherwise get in touch with us.
We try to keep things simple: we only ask for what we need, we tell you why, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
Emily Cartwright determines why and how the personal data described in this policy is used and acts as the data controller for this site. Francia Labs provides technical operation and hosting support. For any privacy question or request you can use the designated contact address hello@emilycartwright.com.
2. What information we collect
Depending on how you interact with the site, we may collect:
- Email address: when you fill in the opt-in form on the Meaningful Moments landing page to receive the free Starter Kit. Campaign parameters beginning with
utm_may be submitted with the form so we can understand how you found the kit. - Optional segmentation answers: on the thank-you page we may ask two soft, optional questions (for example, who you care for and what would help you most). Today these answers remain in your browser's local storage; they are not connected to your email record or used to personalise emails. You can skip or clear them at any time.
- Technical access-log data: IP address, timestamp, request method and path without the query string, response status and byte count. Referrers and browser user-agent strings are intentionally excluded.
- Messages you send us: your email address and the contents of your message when you contact us.
We never see, store or process passwords or payment details on this site. All book purchases happen on Amazon and are governed by Amazon's privacy practices.
3. Why we use your information and our legal bases
- Delivering the Starter Kit: to take the steps you request when submitting the form.
- Optional follow-up emails: based on your consent. When this sequence is enabled, you may withdraw consent at any time through the email platform's unsubscribe or preference controls, or by contacting us.
- Optional content preferences: when you choose to answer the thank-you-page questions, we use your selections to remember which caring resources may be most relevant to you. You can change or clear a selection at any time.
- Operating and protecting the site: based on our legitimate interest in security, troubleshooting and reliable delivery.
- Responding to messages: to take steps at your request and, where applicable, based on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
We never sell or rent your information, and we never share it with advertisers.
4. Third parties we work with
To run the site and deliver the kit we rely on a small number of trusted providers:
- Email delivery: the opt-in form posts to Systeme.io which receives the submitted email, campaign fields and any optional thank-you-page preferences you choose to save, and operates the subscription, delivery and preference-management workflow. Systeme.io states that its data is hosted on AWS servers in Ireland and remains in the European Union.
- Site hosting: the static site is served from a virtual machine managed under Francia Labs' infrastructure. Access to production logs is limited to authorised infrastructure administrators.
- Amazon: book links take you to amazon.com. Anything you do there is governed by Amazon's privacy policy.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and the general type of device and browser used. Google Analytics may set cookies and process usage data. We do not send your submitted email address to Google Analytics.
The optional thank-you-page answers are stored under ec_segments in local storage on your device so your choices can be remembered there. After a successful Starter Kit opt-in, the submitted email is also held in session storage for the current browser tab so that choices made on the thank-you page can be added to the same Systeme.io contact.
We do not store your email address in the page URL, in the browser's local storage, or in any analytics event. Session storage is cleared when the browser tab session ends. If the thank-you page is opened without an email from the opt-in flow, its optional answers remain only on that device.
6. How long we keep your data
- Email subscription data is kept while the subscription is active or while it is needed to provide the requested service. After an unsubscribe or deletion request, a minimal suppression record may be retained where needed to ensure no further marketing email is sent.
- Technical access logs rotate daily and are retained for 14 rotations.
- Optional segmentation answers remain on your device until you clear the selection or your browser's site data. When linked to your email preferences, they are retained with the Systeme.io contact for the same period as the subscription data, unless you change them or request deletion sooner.
- Contact correspondence is kept only as long as needed to answer the request and meet any applicable legal obligations.
7. Your rights
Subject to the conditions in applicable data-protection law, you may:
- Request access to and a copy of your personal data.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Ask us to erase data or restrict how it is used.
- Receive data you provided in a portable format where applicable.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Send requests to hello@emilycartwright.com. We will respond without undue delay and normally within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in the country where you live or work.
8. Required information and automated decisions
Providing an email address is optional, but it is required if you want to use the email-delivery flow for the Starter Kit. Segmentation answers are entirely optional. We do not use personal data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
9. Children
This site is intended for adults caring for an older relative. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes (for example, a new type of data collection) we will also notify subscribers by email.
